Dorothy Ann (Hampton) Bates

Dorothy Ann Hampton Bates, 81, of Thomasville passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Westchester Harbour in High Point with her loving family by her side. Dorothy was born April 3, 1938 to the late Robert L. Hampton and Altha Craven Hampton in Davidson County. She was of the Methodist faith. Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother, Nana and friend. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lee Bates, Sr. on July 30, 2013; two brothers, Leo Hampton and Bobby Hampton; one sister, Margaret Eggers; one grandchild, Somer Bree Warwick.

Surviving is one son, Jimmy Lee Bates, Jr. (Angel) of Lexington; two daughters, Theresa Bullin (Bobby) of Thomasville, Deborah Bates of Greensboro; one sister, Carol Sowers of Oak Harbor, WA; five grandchildren, Lynn Shackleford (Jacob), Kelly Owens (C.J.), Adam Warwick (Ashlee), Bree Bates (Matt), Will Bates; five great-grandchildren, Rhiley Warwick, Charles Warwick, Henry Warwick, Ben Shackleford and Piper Shackleford.

A private family graveside at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery will be conducted. There will be a memorial service at a later date. Mrs. Bates will remain at J. C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be sent to Thomasville Cooperative Community Ministry, 10 W. Guilford Street, Thomasville, NC 27360 or Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
