Dorothy Ellen (Moody) Wright

Dorothy Ellen Moody Wright, 74, a resident of Lexington, passed away early Thursday morning, May 22, 2025 at her home.  She was born in Randolph County, on May 19, 1951, to the late Deleno Harlon Moody and Margaret Annette Victory Moody.  Dorothy was of the Baptist faith and was an accomplished homemaker. On August 25, 1967, Dorothy married Vernon Gray Wright Sr and they enjoyed 45 years as husband and wife before he passed away on December 30, 2012.  Dorothy truly had a green thumb and loved working in her flowers and her garden.  Dorothy enjoyed canning vegetables and provided for her family many amazing meals over the years.  She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by everyone. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Donna Wright; two brothers, James Moody and Paul Moody; two sisters, Patsy Jarrell and Peggy Burrow. 

Dorothy is survived by four sons, Larry Wright and wife Gail, Vernon Wright, Jr., James Wright, Sr. and wife Heather, Billy Crouse; two daughters, Diane Draughn and Jeff Nelson, Tonya Barnes and husband Ricky; a brother, Charles Moody; two sisters, Betty Burrow and Nancy Cox; nineteen grandchildren, Eric, Lisa, Rita, Jerry, April, Nicole, Houston, James Jr., Floyd, Patrick, Casey, Caileb, Josh, Austin, Brianna, Payton, Hunter, Jacob and Sarah; too many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren to count; several nieces and nephews; many other extended family members. 

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 25, 2025 at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville, with Rev. Samuel Harvey officiating.  The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association P.O.
