Dorothy "Dot" Gales Obituary

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Jean Smith Gales, 82, a resident of Thomasville went home to be with the Lord on Thursday September 10, 2020 at High Point Hospice Home. She was born December 28, 1937 in Guilford County to the late Henry Clarence Smith and Cleva Cecil Boles. Dot was a faithful member of Thomasville First Pentecostal Holiness Church having attended for over 40 years. She was enrolled and attended High Point College. She was a loving homemaker and mother for years. She worked with various companies in the clerical field. After retirement, she participated in Davidson County Senior Games and was a member of Dynamic Line Dancers. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Eugene Gales on August 25, 2020; three brothers, Cecil Smith, Bob Smith and George Smith; three sisters, Daisy Kuntz, Lib Russell, and Mot Cooper.

Surviving is her loving son Mitch Gales and wife Norma of Thomasville; two grandchildren, Emily Gales and Sierra Welch; she also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Monday, September 14, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Joe Beane officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday from 12:30 PM-2:00 PM.
