Mrs. Dorothy Lee Sink Cecil, “Dot”, 90, a life-long resident of Davidson County, went to be with her heavenly family on Friday, February 7, 2020. Dot was born on January 10, 1930 to Cletus Archie Lee Sink and Nina Kennedy Sink. She had two sisters, Mary Snow Ensley and Maxine Simmons, all who have preceded her in death.
Her love of the outdoors began early in life, growing up on a tobacco farm. She loved her garden and flowers; she truly had a green thumb. She always was ready to go on a trip to the mountains or the beach, she enjoyed seeing God’s hand in nature. She was a homemaker until later in life when she started working at WalMart in the fabric department. She was an avid painter and crafter and she enjoyed her time there.
Her true loves were her family, on November 22, 1947, she married William C. “Bill” Cecil, her high school sweetheart. Bill passed away in 2003, and their son, Reggie Lee Cecil died in 2000. She is survived by her two sons, W. Randy Cecil and wife Rebecca and Ricky S. Cecil, both of High Point; and her two daughters, Kim R. Cecil and Tami N. Cecil, both of Willow Oak Road in High Point; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; and a special niece, Michelle E. Clodfelter (Timmy) of Thomasville.
The family will receive friends and family at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville on Monday night, February 10, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Zion United Church of Christ in Thomasville with Rev. Gary Phaup and Rev. Dr. Joe D. Coltrane officiating.
