Douglas Higgins Obituary

Mr. Douglas “Muggs” W. Higgins, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 while at Kernersville Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County on February 11, 1932, a son of the late Robert Edward and Annie Phillips Higgins.  Douglas served as Corporal in the United States Army.  He retired from McLean Trucking as a diesel mechanic after 32 years of service. After retirement he started the D&E Mobile Service. He loved classic automobiles, helping and serving others, and mostly time with his grandchildren. Douglas, the last of his siblings was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Surviving of the home is his wife of 64 years, Lucy Hege Higgins; three children, Sandra Miller and husband Jack of Carolina Shores, Edward Higgins of Winston-Salem, and Angie Higgins of Rural Hall; six grandchildren, Crystal Miller (Walter), Tim Miller, Stephen Higgins, Seth Higgins, Samuel Higgins (Sydney), and Dylan Higgins; and one great-granddaughter, Maizie Belle.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bobby Dishman officiating.  Due to current health risk no formal visitation will be held.  Memorial gifts may be directed to the American Heart Association, P.O.
