Douglas "Doug" Eugene Downing

Douglas “Doug” Eugene Downing, 71, of Asheboro went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 18, 2025 at Atrium Health High Point Medical Center. Doug was born August 3, 1953 in Guilford County to the late Carl Vernon Downing and Louise Howard Downing. Doug was a 1971 graduate of Ledford High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1972-1975.  Doug was a faithful member of Charity Baptist Church and served on the Bus Ministry, along with many other ministries; he loved his church dearly. He worked many years in flooring and printing. Doug absolutely loved being outside, whether it was going to spend time at their beach house, hunting, or fishing. He was a faithful husband, daddy, PaPaw, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 
Surviving is his loving wife Debra “Debbie” Mosley Downing of the home; one son, Brian Wayne Downing and wife Layne Downing; his beloved granddaughters, Maysa and Madigan Downing (PaPaw’s Girls); three sisters; Gwynne Shuler and Mike, Betsye Copple, and Ellen Lamb; one uncle, Melvin Reece; six nieces, one nephew and many beloved great-nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his fur baby, Bosley Blu.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Elton Wilborne officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Memorial Chapel Cemetery-2098 Ebenezer Church Road Archdale, NC 27263. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM at J.C.
