Edna Charlotte Crews Bodenheimer of the Abbotts Creek Community died peacefully surrounded by her family on November 20, 2025. She was born on March 16,1940 in Winston-Salem to the late Allen and Edna Crews. Charlotte graduated from Glenn High School and East Carolina University. She taught third grade for 27 years at Wallburg Elementary School until she retired in 1997 to care for her husband, Wade, in his journey with cancer.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband Wade, sister Anne Foster and brothers in law Bill Foster and George Eanes. She was joyously greeted in Heaven by special nieces Kathy Foster Francois and Jennifer Eanes Holmes. She was also preceded in death by her Bodenheimer family members, which included sisters and brothers in law, Lessie and Clyde, Cassie and Charlie, Mae and Kermit, Violet and Numa, and Charles.
Charlotte is survived by her children - daughter Laura and her son-in-law Joe Puckett, her son Craig and Beth Kearns, grandchildren Stephen Puckett (Mary Long), Michelle Williams (Michael) and special great grandsons Warren Puckett and Owen Williams. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Eanes: nephew, Chris Eanes (Jennifer) and niece Karen Foster (Sue Steph); great nephews, Bradie, Griffin, Zachary, Walker and Riley, and great niece Presley. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Barbara Bodenheimer and many nieces and nephews on the Bodenheimer side of the family. We recognize with appreciation her special Nurse Practitioner and great niece, Christy Craven Willson, as well as caregiver and companion Alyson Willoughby and caregiver Jayden Key, both of whom became family to us all.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 2817 Abbotts Creek Church Road, High Point, NC 27265 with Dr. Steve Livengood and Dr. Tom Mabry officiating and special music by the Creekside Quartet. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home, 10301 NC Hwy 109, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. Donations in her memory are requested to Shady Grove Methodist Church, Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church or Hospice of Davidson County.
