Mr. Edward (Ed) Oscar Huffman, Jr., of Thomasville, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at the age of 88 at Westchester Manor at Providence Place. He was born on January 18, 1933 in Catawba County, Newton, NC to the late Edward Oscar Huffman and Ola Gantt Huffman. He retired from Cheerwine Bottling Company after 40 years of service. He was a member of Carolina Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Huffman of Memphis, TN; and sisters, Sue Everhart of Thomasville and Lucille Grayson and brother-in-law, Jack Grayson of Thomasville.
He is survived by his wife Delores Hughes Huffman of Thomasville; his sons, Michael “Mike” Wilhoit (Paige) of High Point, Barry Wilhoit (Wanda) Randleman; step-children, William “Rick” Farmer (Lisa) of Trinity, Otis Farmer of Archdale and Janice “Jan” Craver of High Point; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Warfford of Thomasville; sister-in-law, Peggy Huffman of Memphis, TN; brother-in-law, Bill Everhart of Davidson; grandchildren, Grayson and Faith Wilhoit of High Point, Brittany Wilhoit of Denton, Jason Farmer (Natalie) of Louisburg, NC, Ashley Cribbs (Thomas) of Trinity, and Andrew “Drew” Craver of High Point; and great-grandchildren, Noah and Tenley Farmer, and Luke Cribbs.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Bynum Orr and Rev. Tim Landreth officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Mr. Huffman will lie in state at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM for members of the community to pay their respects.
