Elizabeth Lindsey Obituary

Minister Elizabeth Gladney Lindsey, 80, of Thomasville went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center. Elizabeth was born June 23, 1945 in Newberry County, South Carolina to the late Allen Gladney and Mary Frances Hunter. Minister Lindsey loved the Lord and preached the Gospel for many years. She was a devoted member of High Point Deliverance Temple and served faithfully in her church. In her earlier years, she worked for Thomasville Furniture Industries and later became a CNA and worked at local nursing homes and did home healthcare. Elizabeth enjoyed cooking, doing puzzles, talking on the phone, but most of all spending time with her beloved family.  Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Lindsey, Sr.; her son, James “Man” Henry Lindsey, Jr; granddaughter, Shante Griffin; one grandson, Erik Harris; one great-grandson, Christopher Richbourg, IV; and her sixteen siblings.

Surviving are her children, one son, Marvin Lindsey and wife Tanya; four daughters, Barbara Lindsey Curry, Juanita Lindsey, Carolyn Lindsey and Teresa Lindsey; ten grandchildren, Tyranzia Lindsey-Edwards and husband Michael, Christopher Richbourg, III, Channon Lindsey, Kayla Lindsey, Petty Officer First Class Kenneth L. Mitchell and wife Petty Officer First Class Victoria N. Mitchell, Uniqua Curry, Cortara Mitchell, Cameron Lindsey, Kasei Salinas and Syria Salinas; six great-grandchildren, Shamar Richbourg, Zion Richbourg, Elijah Green, Mya Mitchell, Zoe Mitchell, and Kamari Mitchell; one sister, Betty Sims; one uncle, Augustus Hunter and a special niece, Angelica Gladney; three sister- in- laws, Dorothy Mae Gladney, Bernetha Gladney, and Martha Ann Covington Gladney.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 2:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville with Pastor Zachary Sanders officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM.
