Elizabeth Anne Alman Jones Obituary

Elizabeth “Anne” Alman Jones of Thomasville peacefully entered into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

Anne was born on July 25, 1927, to Frank and Kathleen Alman. She was a proud graduate of High Point College, now High Point University, where she majored in Home Economics and Education. On July 2, 1950, she married Dr. Edward Jones. Together they built a life rooted in faith, friendship, service, and shared experiences over many years.

During Edward’s years at Duke and throughout his residency training, Anne embraced life in many different cities, including Detroit, Michigan, which she loved dearly. When the time came to settle down and make a home, Anne and Edward chose Thomasville because, to Anne, there was simply no place like home.

While many women of that era devoted their time to the social and charitable expectations often placed upon doctors’ wives, Anne’s heart was called elsewhere. With Edward’s blessing, she opened a Christian bookstore in High Point, a place that became much more than a business. Through the store, Anne welcomed countless people into her life and became deeply involved in the Charismatic Movement. She loved sharing stories of the many ways she witnessed God move through healing, faith, and answered prayers.

Anne also had a deep love for travel and adventure. She journeyed across the United States and abroad to many different countries, creating memories and friendships that she cherished well into her 80s.

Although Anne and Edward did not have children of their own, God lovingly placed special people in their lives whom Anne considered her “chosen children.” These relationships brought great joy and companionship to Anne over the years. Her “Kids” were a blessing to her and they were blessed to have been chosen by her.

In her later years, Anne found great joy and companionship at Piedmont Crossing, where she formed many treasured friendships and especially enjoyed weekly bridge games and social gatherings.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11:00 AM at her beloved Fairgrove Church. In honor of Anne’s joyful spirit and personal wishes, a luncheon will follow the service. A private burial will be held.

The family would especially like to thank the wonderful caregivers and staff of Hospice of Davidson County for the tender love and care shown to Anne during her final days.

Anne dearly loved flowers and plants. In her memory, and in lieu of sending flowers, please consider visiting a friend and brightening their day with a bouquet or plant, or making memorial contributions to:
