Elizabeth "Libby" Tate Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Boles Tate, 81 a resident of Denton Road passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at her home. She was born on March 21, 1939 in Davidson county to the late William Odell Boles and Dorothy Surratt Boles. She worked many years as a supervisor with Today’s Home and she was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Libby loved her family and travelling to the beach. While her children were growing up, everyone who came by was a child to her. She helped raise so many people and no one left her home hungry. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Gray Tate, Sr.; one daughter, Dianne Tate Hunt; three brothers, Tommy Boles, Joey Boles, Harold Boles; and one sister, Dottie Cecil.

Surviving are her two sons, Jimmy Gray Tate, Jr. and wife Melissa, and Steven Wayne Tate, all of Thomasville; two daughters, Brenda Watford and husband Jeff and Susan Atwood and husband Scott, all of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Chris Watford, Matt Watford, Preston Atwood, and Brandon Perrell; seven great-grandchildren, Kegan, Cam, James, Andrew, Kaylee, Alyssa, and Jaxtyn; and several other family members.

A graveside service will be held at Liberty Baptist Church in Thomasville on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 3:00 PM with Scott Parker, III and Anne Carr officiating. Mrs. Tate will lie in state on Tuesday at the JC Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville from 8:00AM to 2:00 PM.
