Mrs. Ella Rae Trotter Gordon, 96, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at her home in Thomasville.  She was born on February 20, 1930 in Davidson County, NC to Charlie Trotter and Bessie Riley Trotter.  She worked for many years in the cafeteria at Colonial Drive Elementary and Kern Street Elementary Schools and was of the Baptist faith.  She loved cooking, gardening, and traveling. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Gordon on November 29, 2019; her brothers, Donald, Raeford, Clarence, and Jimmy Trotter; and sister, Ruby Branson.

Surviving are her sons, Tony Gordon and wife Penny and Kirby Gordon and wife Sherry, all of Thomasville; her daughters, Bonnie Justice of Thomasville, Tammie Tuggle and husband Joel of Archdale, and Jamie Hunt and husband Tim of Thomasville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Bynum Orr officiating.  No formal visitation will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or to the National MS Society, 4601 Charlotte Park Dr. #130, Charlotte, NC 28217.  Online condolences may be sent to www.jcgreenandsons.com.
