Ellen Ruth Davis Felton, age 93, of Thomasville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026. She was born October 4, 1932, in Erwin, North Carolina, to Paul and Elma Davis. Ellen graduated from Erwin High School and attended Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.
In 1952, Ellen married her high school sweetheart, James Stanfield Felton. Their life together took them to St. Louis, Illinois, where Stan was stationed in the Air Force, and later to Erwin, Greensboro, and Charlotte, North Carolina, before settling in Thomasville, their home for 50 years. Ellen spent her final months at Westchester Harbour at Providence Place in High Point, North Carolina. The family extends sincere gratitude to the caring staff, with special thanks to the therapy team and campus pastor, Roland Cavanaugh.
A devoted mother to her three daughters—Cathy, Linda, and Jane—Ellen often shared that one of her greatest joys & fondest memories was simply watching her little girls play. She was always ready to listen and to offer encouragement, wisdom, and loving guidance to her daughters, grandchildren, and friends. Their greatest cheerleader, she lived with kindness, quiet strength, a warm sense of humor, and a deep faith in Jesus Christ.
A gifted pianist, Ellen played the piano in church for many years and later taught piano lessons. In Thomasville, she and Stan owned and operated National Insurance and Real Estate. Following his passing, Ellen continued managing properties with her daughter until her retirement.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James Stanfield Felton; her parents, Paul and Elma Davis; her brother, Paul Davis Jr.; and her son-in-law, Gary Reavis.
She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Reavis, Linda Simmen, and Jane Davenport; sons-in-law, Pierre Simmen and Glenn Davenport; and grandchildren Allison Hensley (Scott), Rebekah Reavis (Kevin Bradford), Jessica Smith (Jason), Cathryn Young (Chris), Jonathan Simmen, Caroline Snellings (Jesse), Julianna Warren (Luke), and Christian Davenport.
