Elva Mae Hardy Leonard

Mrs. Elva Mae Hardy Leonard, 96, a resident of Lexington Health Care Center and formerly of Jacob Street in Thomasville, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Lexington Health Care.  She was born on July 18, 1925 in Surry County, NC to Dee Hardy and Myrtle Wall Hardy.  She retired from Kayby Mills.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Matthew Leonard on February 22, 2001, whom she married on May 4, 1946; her infant son, Edward Leonard; her brother, Monroe Hardy; and her sister, Grace Draughn.

Surviving is her son, Allen Leonard and wife Jan of Thomasville; grandchildren, Karen Morgan and husband Chad and Susan Leonard; 5 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Churchland with Preacher Clyde Akers officiating.  Mrs. Leonard will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the cemetery 30 minutes prior to the graveside service.  The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  Memorials may be directed to Lexington Health Care Center, 17 Cornelia St. Lexington, NC  27292.  Online condolences may be sent to www.jcgreenandsons.com.
