Erica (Gutschmidt) Cox

Erica Gutschmidt Cox, 57, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at her home.  She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 5, 1963 a daughter of the late Bette Lou Wells and Donald Fred Gutschmidt.  Erica was of the Baptist faith and a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church. She worked as a veterinarian technician and was very dedicated to the care of animals giving much of her time to wildlife rehabilitation.  Erica will be remembered by her family as an extremely loving and caring individual.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two infant siblings, Mitchell and Paula Gutschmidt.

Surviving of the home is her husband, Clifton Vance Cox, Jr.; daughter, Samatha Stimpson McHone (Jason) of Yadkinville; son, William Clay Lee ‘Bo’ Stimpson, III (Meghan) of King; sister, Dawn Gutschmidt Boetticher (Lynn) of Strongsville, OH; step-son, Clifton Vance Cox, III (Beth); two step-grandchildren, Austin Porter Cox and Timothy Buskirk; and many family members in Cleveland, OH.

A private gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 pm at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home, 10301 N. NC Hwy 109, Winston-Salem.  Memorial gifts may be directed to Wildlife Rehab or to the Human Society.
