Mr. Ernest Francis Perkins, age 92, a resident of Thomasville, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Brookdale Senior Living in Burlington, NC. He was born August 2, 1933, in Oakland County, Michigan, a son to the late William "Willie" Francis “W.F.” Perkins and Horta Gath Teachout Perkins. Ernest proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the military police. He attended the Sunday School class at Memorial United Methodist Church in Thomasville. Ernest was a proficient salesman of guns, houses and cars and flipped many over the years. He genuinely enjoyed meeting people and could tell some great stories. Ernest and his wife Nancy, enjoyed going to their lake house and he was a member of a local bike club and liked riding his e-bike around Thomasville to eat at the local restaurants. Ernest was a lover of dogs, cats and always smoked a pipe or cigar while relaxing. He was a loyal husband, brother, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Ernest is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Stillwell Perkins, who passed in 2004.
Ernest is survived by his sister, Cookie Richardson and husband Mike Runkle of Mebane, NC; his brother, Jim Perkins and wife Paulette of Macon, GA; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.
A private memorial service will be held for Ernest with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 1072, Thomasville, NC 27361.
