Esther Verona Allen Hughes

Esther Verona Allen Hughes, 94, of Thomasville went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at her home. Verona was born September 16, 1927 in Harnett County to the late Joseph Herbert Allen and Margaret McLeod Allen. She was a faithful member of Carolina Memorial Baptist Church. Verona worked many years as a talented seamstress. She enjoyed tending to her family by cooking, gardening and canning vegetables. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with family and being a Granny. She was a loving mother, granny, sister and friend, she will be greatly missed by many. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband J.B. Hughes; two brothers, J.H Allen and John Allen; three sisters, Rita Parrish, Gladys Bishop, and Mabel Barbour.

Surviving are her two daughters, Pat McClamrock, Melanie Craver and husband Nick; two brothers, Jerry Allen and June Allen; one sister, Anne Patterson; six grandchildren, Kristle Brumley and husband Nathan, Benji McClamrock and wife Wendy, Dustin Hubbard and wife Erin, Amanda Connell and husband Trevor, Jason Craver, Brandon Craver and wife Jeana; thirteen great-grandchildren, Austin, Delaney, Jennings, Kylie, Sawyer, Presley, Troy, Olivia, Leah, Maggie, Finley, Adalyn, Gray.

A funeral service will be held Friday, April 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville with Rev. Tim Landreth officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM.
