Evelyn Faye Berrier Leonard Obituary

Mrs. Evelyn Leonard, 84, of Midway, went home to be with her Lord on July 1, 2020.

She was born October 11, 1935 in Davidson County, to Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. Berrier.  After graduating from North Davidson High School in 1954, she became a faithful and loving wife to Mr. Allen “Pete” Leonard for 63 years. In fact, she was happiest when she was at home spending time with their family, the grandchildren, and the Great Grands.

Mrs. Leonard served as secretary at Midway Elementary School for 32 years ~ taking care of the children, enjoying her friends on the faculty, and reaching out to the families in the community. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church where she faithfully served as an adult Sunday School teacher for 60 years. She also appreciated attending worship services with her friends at Park Place Baptist Church in Thomasville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Berrier McGee and her two brothers, Roy Berrier and Wayne Berrier. Surviving are her daughters; Sherry Collins (Johnny), Pam Myers (Don), Tobi Williams (Scott); six grandchildren, Brad Myers (Morgan), Erin Lewey, Kevin Myers (Amanda), Thad Williams (Megan), Alison English (Drew), Casey Williams and Wes McMahan; and seven great-grandchildren: Tessa, Leah, Finley, Cuff, Abram, Jules, and Baby Ray.

The family will hold a graveside service at 3:00 pm at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery on Friday, July 3, 2020 with Pastor Chris Clontz and Pastor Tom Campbell officiating. Mrs. Leonard will lie in state at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, July 3, 2020, for those who would like to come by to pay their respects.
