Evelyn Harris Darr

Evelyn Harris Darr, 95, of Thomasville, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Westchester Manor Nursing Center, after a period of declining health.  She was born on December 2, 1924 in Davidson County, NC to the late Charlie Harris and Maude Lambeth Harris.  Evelyn was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and retired from U.S. Furniture as a upholster sewer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Reid Darr on August 26, 2001, whom she married on February 4, 1948; her brothers, John Lee Harris, Ross Harris, Arthur Harris, Bobby Harris and Paul Harris; and her sister, Hope Sechrist.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her daughter Phyllis D. Cecil and husband Jeffrey of High Point; her son, Terry R. Darr and wife Cindy of Thomasville; grandchildren, Scott Cecil and wife Resica, Chad Cecil and wife Danielle, and Sarah Darr; great-grandchildren, Lauren E. Cecil, Teagan M. Cecil, and Ava C. Cecil; sisters, Betty Horosko and  husband Steve, Jessie Sellers and husband Bobby, Joann Allred, Mildred Cooper and husband Bob, Carolyn Owen, and Helen Briles and husband Lawrence; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Duane Corle officiating.  A public memorial service for Evelyn will be held at a later date once the restrictions due to the COVID-19 virus have been lifted.  Memorials may be directed to Fairview UMC, 2876 Old Greensboro Rd. Thomasville, NC  27360.
