Farrist Ann Barnes Loflin, 91, of Thomasville passed away peacefully at Mt. Vista Health Park on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Farrist was born November 4, 1934 in Randolph County to the late John Henry Barnes and Marinda Jane Harris Barnes. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church in Lexington which she loved dearly. Her greatest joy in life was being a homemaker and a caregiver to her beloved family. She loved canning, cooking, and cleaning. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Billy “Bill” Loflin on June 19, 2022 after 67 years of marriage; her siblings, Ruby Barnes Owens, John Max Barnes and Weldon Barnes.
Surviving is her one son, Dale Loflin and wife Mary Nell; one daughter, Janet Loflin Jenkins and husband Mike; three grandchildren, Meredith Ward and husband Brandon, Daniel Loflin and wife Caroline, Heather Hall and husband Chuck; great-grandchildren, Maddison Loflin, Cooper Hall, Weston Loflin; her sisters, Gertrude Wall, Shirley Briles and husband Harold, Nancy Gallimore and Imogene Cartner; one brother, Joel Barnes She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Mt. Vista Health Park for the wonderful love and care they extended to Farrist.
A funeral service will be held Monday, February 9, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 1 Haltom Road Lexington, NC 27292 with Rev. Randy Powell and Rev. Brad Treece officiating. A private interment will take place in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be sent to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 3181 Hannersville Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
