Frances Pleasant Brinkley, 98, formerly of Robinhood Road, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.
She was born November 9, 1921 to the late David Pleasant and Lena Bean Pleasant in Guilford County. Her first job was for McClellan’s Dime Store in downtown Thomasville. She married Bobby Clayton Brinkley on November 21, 1939. Frances then became the bookkeeper for her husband’s car dealership. She was a member of Pine Woods United Methodist Church, Thomasville Women’s Club, Extension Homemakers Club, and several bridge clubs. Frances enjoyed cooking, family time and traveling to Kure Beach. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband in January of 2009; a sister, Dot Bell; a brother, Earl Pleasant.
Surviving are her three children, Robert Clayton Brinkley, Gayle Batten and husband Russell, Cindy Taylor and husband Jack; two sisters, Ruth Armentrout, and Billie Rae Lee; six grandchildren, Brain Brinkley, Shannon Brinkley, Jason Batten, Josh Batten and wife Mary, Tony Taylor and wife Angie, Kenny Taylor and wife Jennifer; six great grandchildren, Madison Brinkley, Joe Batten, Theo Batten, Owen Batten, Lillie Taylor and Brinkley Taylor.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 18, 2020 at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville with Rev. Bob Symanski officiating. There be no formal visitation.
