Frances Hughes

Mrs. Frances Hughes, 85, of Hughes Grove Church Road, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Frances was born May 30, 1938 to the late Elwood Summey and Mary Walker Summey in Randolph County. She was a member of Hughes Grove Baptist Church and served in the nursery and assistant Sunday School teacher in her early years. Frances cherished her family and will be greatly missed

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings; brothers, Austin, Roby, John, Russell, and Charlie Summey; sisters, Ruth Hancock, Bessie Lambeth, Ruby Kindley.  

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Wayne “Buck” Hughes of the home; three loving children, Paul Hughes, Ronald Hughes and wife Carol, Donna Hughes; two grandsons, Tony Wayne Hughes and Kennth Holt; many extended family members.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Hughes Grove Baptist Church in Thomasville Pastor Darrell Summey officiating. At the request of Frances, no public viewing or visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Hughes Grove Baptist Church or Hospice of Davidson County.
