Bishop Garland “Onnie” Langley of Winston Salem, went to be with his Lord and Savior July 9, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends. Onnie was born on March 22, 1943, to the late George Robert Langley and Etta Rose Snyder of Lexington, NC. He served his country in the United States Navy and Reserves. He pastored and served in many areas of ministry for approximately 40 years in the Church of God of Prophecy with his last pastorate at North Wilkesboro, NC. Onnie was loved by many, who knew him as a “strong gentle giant”, loving husband and a father to many.
Onnie is survived in death by his wife of 57 years Paula Smith Langley of Winston Salem. Brothers: George Thomas Langley (Thelma) of Lexington, Robert Daniel Langley (Becky) of Winston Salem, Edward Bruce Langley (Gail) of Lexington, Sister: Margaret Langley Lashley (Gene) of Lexington, Nephew (who was loved as a brother) Marvin Bentley (Judy) of St. Paul’s, NC and many nieces and nephews that he loved as his own. Though Onnie and Paula had no biological children they are known as Ma and Pa to many all over the world.
Preceded in death by 3 sisters: Mary Lee Stokes, Evelyn Langley Bentley and Etta May Langley.
The family will receive friends on Saturday July 17, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Life Impact Church of God of Prophecy located at 5090 South Main Street Winston Salem, NC 27107. A Celebration of life will begin at 3:00 PM officiated by Pastor Tim Byrd.
