Mr. Gary Lewis Collins, Sr, 74, a resident of Lexington, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at his home. He was born on December 15, 1951 in High Point to his parents, Clayton Collins and Sarah Mullins Collins Bizzell. Gary retired after several years from Thomasville Furniture and later on with Carolina Drawers. He wrestled with Southern Wrestling Alliance in 1978-79 and won a title in 1979. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, loved to garden, raising chickens, but family was always his main priority. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Jimmy Collins, Johnny Collins, Donald Collins, Terry Bizzell, and Linda Stair.
Surviving is his life partner, Sue Leonard Small of the home; his children, Gary Collins, Jr and fiancée Melody, Kenneth Collins, Tiffany Collins, and Angela Collins; stepsons, Scott Hollifield, Michael Hollifield, Toby Hollifield, Lewis Small; eleven grandchildren; four siblings, Judy Purvis (Ricky), Sally Hancock, Butch Bizzell, and Penny Greenman (Jeff); Sue’s family which he loved: BJ Leonard, Becky Nealey, Joe Russell, and Matthew Nealey. Special mentions to, Devon, Luke, Nick, Justin Oquinn and their dad and also Ricky Michaels for all their care and help through the years.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the JC Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville. Burial will follow the service at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville. Online condolence may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com
