Gene Kelly (Worm) Stewart

Mr. Gene Kelly “Worm” Stewart, 68, formerly of Wallburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at First Health Hospice of the Carolinas in West End, NC after an extended illness. He was born in Forsyth County on July 19, 1951 to the late Luther and Pauline Jordan Stewart.  Gene served in the United States Army, a Vietnam Vet, and worked as an expert welder for various companies, including his own.  He will be remembered as a great motor cross racer and enthusiast.  Gene had a love for Nascar and the beach.

Surviving are his children, Michael ‘Mikey’ Stewart and wife Misty of Biscoe, Shannon Stewart of Oak Island, and Lindsey Stewart of Archdale; sister, Von Beck of Winston-Salem; brother, Gary Stewart of Columbus Ms.; grandchildren, Devin Stewart, Kali Lukas, Allyia Stewart, John Lukas, and Makayla Stewart; and former wife and best friend, Rennie Stewart of High Point.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home chapel in Wallburg.  The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 10:00 am at the funeral home, 10301 N. NC Hwy 109, Winston-Salem, NC. A private inurnment will follow the service at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
