George Deal Obituary

Mr. George Franklin “Frank” Deal, age 72, formerly of High Point, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, while at SECU Hospice House in Yadkinville.  He was born on July 23, 1952 in Catawba County to the late Ernest and Lila Sawyer Deal.  George was a Captain of the High Point Fire Department for many years prior to a rescue mission injury that forced retirement.  He was a well-respected part of the team which included teaching of the many emergency care procedures.  George was a talented woodworker that included carving and building furniture as well as a general contractor that had single handedly built houses.  Known for his kind nature he especially loved children, spending time listening and mentoring others.  Other pastimes include his love of classic cars, which he spent time restoring and engaging with other enthusiast through car clubs, and enjoyed tinkering with model trains and guitars.  After marriage to Linda Burnam 31 years ago he immediately became “Papa” to her grandchildren which enlightened his life.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Jeanette, and brother, Eddie Deal.

Surviving of the home is his loving wife, Linda Burnam Deal; daughter, Cheryl Meadows of Lexington; step-daughter, Gina Damm (Kris) of Melbourne, Florida; three brothers, Ernest LaVaughn “Ernie” Deal (Ruby) of Kernersville, Calvin Deal (Jan) of High Point, and Ray Deal (Sharon) of High Point; eight grandchildren, Taylor, Brandon, Jared, Daniel, Carina, David, Kristopher, and Harley; and three great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Makenzie, and Wesson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Wallburg with the Rev. Marie Duke officiating.  Honors will be presented by the High Point Fire Department. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home, 10301 N. NC Hwy 109, Winston-Salem.
