Geraldine Lou Hester Sapp

Mrs. Geraldine “Gerry” Lou Hester Sapp, 95, affectionately known as “Memaw”, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at her home.  She was born on August 4, 1929 in Forsyth County, NC to Allen Eugene Hester and Emma Jane Hester.  She retired from Roses Department Store and also worked at Hanes and Hamricks.  She loved her animals, dogs and cats, drinking her coffee and watching the news.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Harvell Sapp on September 20, 1999; and her son, Jimmie Sapp on April 15, 2020.

Surviving is her son, Todd Sapp (Veronica) of Winston-Salem; granddaughter, Nichole Crawford (George) of Winston-Salem; three step-grandchildren, David Koon, Jamie Koon, and Tanya Koon; three great-grandchildren, Elijah Sapp, Elexus Sapp-Donaldson (Emily), and Chansellor Crawford; and seven great-great grandchildren, Kyrie, Kayori, Luna, Cailee, Avani, Casen, and Chance.

A memorial graveside service will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston-Salem on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 12:00 Noon with Chaplain Jeff Vogler officiating.
