Glenda Carol (Crawford) Gandy

Glenda Carol Crawford Gandy, 76 of Thomasville passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday July 30, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Glenda was born November 9, 1944 in Davidson County to the late Oscar Crawford and Lauree Herring Gilmore. Glenda worked many years as a bookkeeper for J.J. Gandy Enterprise Cleaning Company. She also worked as a Supervisor for Zayre Department Store, Old Dominion, Family Dollar, and Murrow Transfer. She was a faithful member of Unity United Methodist Church. She was a member of the church choir, held a bible study at nursing home, formally The Oaks. Glenda also served the Lord with a Prison Ministry at Davidson County Jail. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Junior Gandy.

Surviving is her daughter, Monica M. Flowers, of the home; one son, Dexter Eugene Flowers and wife Ali of Clemmons; two sisters, Josephine Stephens and Rev. Mary Dow and husband Charlie both of Thomasville; five brothers, Sylvester Gilmore, Jr., Edward Gilmore, both of Thomasville, Robert Gilmore and wife Deborah of Whissett, Bernard Gilmore of Thomasville, Gerald Gilmore of Pennsylvania.; six grandchildren, Christian, Cameron, Kayla, Jonathan, Luke and Victoria; she also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, Jayden, Gracie, Ava and Xander.

A funeral service will be held Monday, August 2, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Unity United Methodist Church in Thomasville with Rev. Kim Richardson, Rev. Rob Hutchinson, Rev. Ray Whittington, Rev. Dr. Dee Stokes and Rev. Mary Dow. Entombment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville on Sunday August 1, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be sent to Unity United Methodist Church, 608 National Hwy, Thomasville, NC 27360.
