Mr. Harold Lee Childress, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Thomasville Medical Center.
Harold was born February 24, 1947 to the late Willie Lee Childress and Betty Virginia Kinley Childress in Davidson County. He worked for Hunter Heating and Air in High Point for many years. Harold was a faithful member of Hughes Grove Baptist Church in Thomasville. He had a contagious sense of humor, a genuine personality, and was a “straight shooter” that could fix anything. Harold was the protector of his wife, girls, and grandbabies. He will be missed for his big heart and giving spirit.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his three siblings, Patsy Cox, Ronald and Bobby Childress. Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Glenda Everhart Childress of the home; two daughters, Carolyn Childress Ashley and husband Fredrick of Asheboro, Glynus Lee Childress of Thomasville; a sister, Linda Cox and husband Ed of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Jacob Ashley, Autumn Ashley, Christopher Childress, Bryce Childress; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family will greet friends at the J.C. Green and Sons funeral home in Thomasville on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 4:00 PM at Hughes Grove Baptist Church in Thomasville with Pastor John Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
