Harold Vannoy Obituary

Mr. Harold Vaughn Vannoy, 71, a resident of Randolph County went home to be with the Lord on April 10, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Harold was born on December 31, 1950 in Caldwell County, a son to the late J.V. (Bud) Vannoy and JoAn Goble Vannoy. He graduated from Wake Forest University and received an advanced degree from the University of Chicago. He was a devoted member of Memorial United Methodist Church. He had a passion for music and loved sharing his gift with the community which included playing with the Tom Holiday Orchestra, playing the base guitar, and singing in the choir to just name a few. Harold was a member of the Vocal Chords. He received the Paul Harris Fellow Award by Thomasville Rotary Club. He was dedicated to not only his church, but his reliability, gentleness, and intelligence could be seen in his homelife as well as his employment. He traveled extensively for thirty years as a respected employee for V F Wrangler Corporation. Harold spent much of his time playing golf and traveling with his wife, whom he adored. He had a passion for his family, music and golf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, William N. (Dick) Taylor.   

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carol Taylor Vannoy of the home; sister, Sheila Vannoy Groves (David) of Greensboro; brother, Nathan Vannoy (Brenda) of Lenior; nephews, Alex Vannoy and William Vannoy (AbaGayle); mother-in-law, Janice Mizelle Taylor; brother and sisters-in-law, Wayne Taylor (Becky), Gail Modlin (Adron), Connie Francis (Eddie), Cathy Pennell (Vann) and their children, Jodi, Scott, Taylor, Chad, Adrienne, Kelly and Brett.

 

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Memorial United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Danny Leonard. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. in the Christian Enrichment Center at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Harold’s memory to either, Memorial United Methodist Church Choir, Hospice of the Piedmont or a charity of your choice.
