Mr. Harry “June-Bug” Walter Messick, Jr., 66, longtime resident of Bryson City, NC and current resident of Thomasville, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. He was born on October 22, 1957 in West Virginia to his parents, Harry Walter Messick, Sr. and Margaret Ledford Simonds. June-Bug was known as a good carpenter through the years. One of his favorite joys was spending time with his grandchildren and family outdoors fishing and going camping. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Prather (husband Scott).

Surviving are his four children, Chris Messick, John Messick (Christy), April Messick, all of Thomasville, and Phyllis Prather of Sylva, NC; former wife of 27 years and mother of his children, Margaret Messick; seventeen grandchildren, John Jr., Ozzy, Jason, Bella, Cahlie, Jasmine, Alex, Dakota, Chris Jr., Joe, Autumn, Chance, Dylan, Alyssa, Austin, Kristen, and Ryan; and several great-grandchildren and extended family members.
