Harvey Lee Vaughn Obituary

Mr. Harvey Lee Vaughn, 93, of Thomasville, died peacefully in the arms of The Lord, his Savior, on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice Home in Lexington.  Harvey was born in Forsyth County on March 8, 1932 to the late James Thomas Vaughn, Sr. and Fleta Burrow Vaughn.

Harvey grew up on the farm and he loved to hunt and fish.  He also loved to go camping with his family and friends.  Harvey attended Old Richmond High School.

Preceding him in death was his loving wife, Jewell Vaughn.  Also, preceding him in death, were his son, Mark D. Vaughn; his daughter, Kaye Haynes; his brother, J.T. Vaughn, Jr. (Evie); his sisters, Lucille (Raymond) Edwards and Marie (Roy) Parrish, and Rebecca Lingo; and his brother-in-law, James Gough.

Harvey is survived by his son-in-law, Michael Haynes; daughter-in-law, Donnelle Vaughn; grandson, Justin Vaughn (Brittany); granddaughters, Misty Motsinger (John) and Amanda Haynes; great-grandchildren, Casey Rollins (Zack), Austin Woodruff (Katie), Logan Motsinger, Amiyah Hampton (Nick Elliott), Autumn Haynes; great-great grandchildren, Ava Woodruff and Azaire Elliott; one sister, Frances Gough; one brother, George (June) Vaughn; brother-in-law, Robert Lingo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Harvey worked for the Merita Bread Company for a large portion of his life. After retirement, he worked for his sister at Chandler Smith Burner and Fuel Service in the Lawn and Garden Department.  After retirement there, he worked for Wal-Mart in the Lawn and Garden Department.  Harvey was a devoted Christian and attended Behind the Veil Ministries as long as his health permitted.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.  Online condolences may be sent to www.jcgreenandsons.com.
