Henry "Weldon" Barnes

Henry “Weldon” Barnes, 83, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

Weldon was born September 7, 1941 to the late John Henry Barnes and Marinda Jane Harris Barnes of Davidson County. He worked as a truck driver for the majority of his professional life and retired from ABF Freight after 28 years. Weldon was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church where he and his wife were faithful in the children ministries of the church. He will be remembered for his love of Dale Earnhardt, Sr., NASCAR, and the LA Dodgers.

In addition to his parents, Weldon was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Patsy “Pat” Ann Hughes Barnes; two siblings, Max and Ruby.   

Surviving are his sons, Kenneth Barnes and wife Elizabeth of St. Cloud, FL, Keith Barnes and wife Barbara of LaGrange, IL and Lee Allen Barnes and partner Danny Neil of Tool, TX; five grandchildren, Katie, John, Lindsey, Ashleigh, and Billy; six great-grandchildren, Harper, Tara Rose, Waylon, Hayden, Braxton, and Caleb; six siblings: Joel, Nancy, Farrist, Gertrude, Imogene, and Shirley; his caregiver and friend, Angie Everhart.

A funeral service will be held Monday, March 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 8114 Old US HWY 64, Lexington, NC 27292 with Rev. Samuel Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
