Mr. Hoxie Ditmar Jones Jr., 84 passed away on April 10, 2020 at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Davidson County on August 01, 1935 a son to the late Hoxie D. Jones Sr. and Blanche Rachael Jones. He was a lifelong resident of Thomasville and a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. Hoxie served 13 years with the National Guard and from there he served in the Navy, retiring from the military after 35 years of serving his country. Hoxie then went on to become a sales coordinator for 3M company where he retired with almost 30 years in the business. He was a past Master in the Masonic Lodge Acacia in High Point as well as past Patron in the Eastern Star, Lexington Chapter 98. Hoxie loved life but truly had a passion for the Banjo. He traveled to many states for conventions where his talent shined through while playing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret Jones of the home; daughter, Amy Hill of Archdale; son, Hoxie D. (Chip) Jones III of Thomasville; grandchildren, Zac Hill (Anthony) of Willow Springs and Rachael Pack (Cray) of Hampstead; brother, Danny Jones (Barbara) of Florida. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Hoxie will be planned for a later date. The family would request that memorials being made in Hoxie’s memory be sent to an organization of your choosing that is close to your heart. Online condolences may be given to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
