Mrs. Irene Beckwith Truelove, 93 of Lexington went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Hinkle Hospice Home in Lexington. Irene was born November 25, 1929 in Wake County, North Carolina to the late Levy William Beckwith and Bessie Roberts Beckwith. Irene was a faithful member of Park Place Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, served on various committees and loved going on visitation. She worked many years in the textile industry at Kayby Mills as a bookkeeper. Irene always had a smile on her face and kindness in her heart. She was an avid reader and loved working crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She was a loving mother, sister, and friend; she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Owen Truelove on March 16, 2019; one son, Michael Owen Truelove; two sisters, Edna Walker, Lynda Beckwith Slaughter; one brother, Odell Beckwith.
Surviving are her two daughters, Karen “Kay” Truelove Whitener and husband Dale of Trinity, Leigh Ellen Truelove (Todd Yates) of Lexington; two sisters, Patsy B. Rowland of Fuquay-Varina, Peggy B. Johnson of Garner; one brother, William “Bob” Beckwith from Sumter, South Carolina. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Irene’s wonderful caregivers, Ashley Durham and Janice Jacobs, along with the numerous members of Hospice of Davidson County who provided exceptional care.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Richard Thayer officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 12:30- 2:00 PM.
