Jack C. Shields

Mr. Jack C. Shields, age 90 of Winston-Salem, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023, surrounded by his family. Jack was born September 3, 1933, to the late Sidney and Vera Shields. He was raised by his late grandfather, Henry Carl Shields, after Jack’s father passed when he was only eleven years old.

Jack had a passion for golf, and he even got the chance to experience the thrill of a hole-in-one! He was a proud member of Shady Grove Methodist Church in addition to being a member of Piedmont Boat Club for over 40 years. He loved the lake and spending time with his boat club family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of over 70 years, Betty Lou Snyder Shields; his daughter (who loved him immensely), Kathy Huie (Dennis); son, Keith Shields (Jodi); grandchildren: Chad Bryant (Heather), Randall Shields (Ashley), Brittany Mitchell (Joe), and Amanda Whaley (Burke); eight great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly; stepbrother, Jerry Hunsucker (whom he had a very special relationship with); sister-in-law, Debby; and several nieces.

A private celebration of life will take place at High Rock Lake’s Piedmont Boat Club at a later date. The family would like to convey their gratitude to the staff at Kate B.
