Jack Ray Payne

Jack Ray Payne, 85, of New Cut Road, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 27, 2025 at High Point Hospital.

Jack was born March 31, 1940, the son of the late Ernest Payne and Lassie King Robbins in Andrews, NC. He worked in life insurance sales for many years and was a member of Hughes Grove Baptist Church in Thomasville. Jack enjoyed the hobby of bird keeping and cared for all types and domestic birds.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by three siblings, Helen Odell, Carroll Payne, and James Payne.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia Hancock Payne of the home; three children, Shannon Payne and wife Stephanie of Lexington, Tonya Bennett and husband Sonny of Thomasville, Danny Payne and wife Cathy of Lexington; a brother, Harold Payne and wife Edith of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Jessica Tanner and husband Brandon, Avery Payne and wife Kinsey, Kendall Bare and husband Brandon, Braxton Payne and girlfriend Makenzie. Also, a great-grandbaby “on the way”.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Hughes Grove Baptist Church in Thomasville with Rev. Dr. Michael Grant officiating. The family will greet friends prior at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hughes Grove Baptist Church.
