Ms. Jacqueline “Jackie” Garner,90, of Thomasville, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. She was born on April 27, 1935 in Guilford County, NC to Jacob Abel Garner and Ethel Connor Garner. She received her bachelor’s degrees in education from Indiana Wesleyan University and Marion College, her education specialist degree from Appalachian State University, and her master’s degree in education from UNC-Chapel Hill. She retired in 1989 after 33 years of service as a teacher and administrator with the High Point City Schools and later was a professor in education at Greensboro College. She was a member of Central Wesleyan Church in Thomasville, where she sang in the church choir, played the piano, and taught Sunday School. She loved God, people, especially children, helping others, and traveling. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, was always happy and full of life, and dearly loved her sisters, brother, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gwendolyn Imogene Garner Fritts; and her brother, Coyte Lee Garner, Sr.
Surviving is her sister, Loma Garner Clodfelter and her husband Harvey Clodfelter, Jr. of Thomasville; eight nephews, C. Lee Garner, Jr., David Garner and wife Diana, Joe Garner, John Garner and wife Susan, Joel Lee Fritts and wife Kim, Nathan Ross Fritts and wife Michelle, Alan Clodfelter and wife Natalie, and Byron Clodfelter; several great-nephews, and 2 great-nieces.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Marty Martin officiating. Jackie will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until the hour of the graveside service. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM prior to the graveside service.
