Jacqueline (“Jackie”) Pendry, 85, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Westchester Manor. She was born in Davidson County on March 7, 1938 to the late Walter and Sally Craven. Jackie was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank, Buren, Evelyn, Hubert, Percy, Ella Jean, and Johnny Craven.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Millard Monroe Pendry; daughters, Tamra (“Tammy”) Smith and husband Alan, and Candace Varner; son, Monty Pendry and wife Kim; grandchildren, Amanda Smith and husband Andrew Curtis, Allison Smith, Andrea Smith, Dylan Varner, Landon Varner, Jacob Pendry, Carson Varner, Hannah Pendry, and Brayden Varner; and great-granddaughter Ava Smith Curtis. The family would like to thank the staff of Westchester Manor, her caregivers, Angela, Demetri, Melissa, and Hospice of the Piedmont for their loving care.
Jackie dedicated her life to the care of the community’s children. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, where she volunteered at the food pantry. She enjoyed ice cream, Saturday morning breakfasts, the Christmas season, playing rook, hymns, shopping, and had a knack for the piano and the squirt gun game at the fair. Jackie will be remembered as a loving wife, “mama,” and “granny”, for her nightly suppers and Sunday lunches with her family, her blessings (“thank you for the food, Jesus”), and her love of laughter.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 3:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Wallburg with Rev. Lee Strange officiating.
