James William "Bill" Cook

Mr. James William “Bill” Cook, 82 of Dobson, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023. Bill Was born October 18, 1940, to the late James Isaac Cook and Lottie McBride Cook of Jonesville, North Carolina. Bill graduated from Jonesville High School and served as Director of Public Works for the Town of Jonesville for over thirty-seven years. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the churches he served during his life: Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Jonesville, New Friendship Baptist Church in Winston Salem and Salem Baptist Church in Dobson. Bill immensely enjoyed watching sports and racing. He always could quote the stats and schedules. He was known for his intelligence and witty humor. He was a loving father who led and inspired by his consistent example. He will be missed by his family, friends, church and community.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Wanda Morris Cook; grandson Joshua Gregory; and his sister-in-law Polly Wiles Cook.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons, Timothy James Cook (Alessandra Troncone) and Richard Wayne Cook (Beth): daughter, Melissa Easter (Greg); brother, Charles Cook; sister, Nancy Gregory (Bruce); and grandchildren: Matthew Cook, Lauren Darling (Jason), Audrianna Thomas (Logan), Andruw Cook, Benjamin Easter, Lindsay Easter, and Riley Easter.

A funeral Service will be held at Salem Baptist Church (430 Rockford Drive, Dobson, NC 27017) on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 12:00pm with Rev. Russ Billo and Rev. Brian Smith officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service, from 11:00am to 11:45am at the church. Burial will follow the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (3250 High Point Road, Winston Salem, NC 27107). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Senior Ministry of Salem Baptist Church.
