James Lee Jones

Mr. James Lee Jones, 73, a resident of Thomasville, passed away surrounded by friends and family, on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at his home.  He was born September 18, 1949, in Guilford County to the late James Lewis Jones and Eloise Carter Jones.  James loved living life to the fullest!  He enjoyed racing, golfing, fishing and hunting, but most of all loved motorcycles.  James became a coin collector later in his life.  He worked in furniture most of his life and enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends.  James will be missed by everyone who knew him. 

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, James Lee “Chubby” Jones, Jr; and his wife, Jackie Bullins Jones. 

Left to honor James’ memory are his five sons, Phillip Jones and fiancé Donna of Lexington, Brian Shipwash and wife Meredith of Trinity, Shane Tanner and wife Stacey of Thomasville, Richard Lee Hurst and wife Samantha of Lexington, Larry Hurst and wife Leslie of Virginia; four daughters, Dawn Jones and fiancé Shane of Troy, Renee Markham and husband Billy Wayne of Archdale, Tanya Bristow and husband Tad of Asheboro, Diane Hurst of Thomasville; two brothers, Lloyd Keith Jones and wife Louise of High Point, Roger Dale Jones and wife Vickie of Trinity; three sisters, Patricia “Pat” Taylor of High Point, Glenda Kay Johnson of Flint Hill, Brenda Gail Whitesell of Glenola; grandchildren, Kailee and Addyson Tanner and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
