James "David" McCoy

Mr. James “David” McCoy, 66, of Thomasville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Brookstone Terrace in Thomasville. David was born October 14, 1958 in Greenville County, South Carolina to the late Lewis McCoy, Jr. and Sallie M. Williams McCoy. He worked many years as a cloth cutter in the textile industry. David enjoyed staying busy; after retirement from textiles, he owned his own landscaping business. He was a member of Hillside Park Baptist Church in Thomasville. David loved the Lord with all his heart, and worshiped him through singing. His gentle spirit and kind smile will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis McCoy, III and Tim McCoy.

Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years, Donna Ward McCoy of the home; daughter, Jamie Gordon and husband Brannon; son, Matt McCoy and wife Whitney; four grandchildren, Bryce Gordon, Jaeden McCoy, Hannah McCoy and Asher McCoy; two brothers, James Lewis McCoy and wife Pam and Charles McCoy.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Hillside Park Baptist Church in Thomasville with Rev. Dr. Steve Chipps and Rev. Hulon Pait officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM.
