James Dillard (Dill) Cecil Obituary

James Dillard (Dill) Cecil, 83, of Thomasville, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at the Hospice Home at High Point.


Dill was born on November 22, 1942 to John Wesley Cecil and Ethel Geneva Sink Cecil.  He was a 1961 graduate of Ledford Senior High School, served in the Army National Guard and owned and operated his own landscaping business.  Dill always put his family, friends, and neighbors first and would do anything to help them.  He was kind and thoughtful, a Christian at heart, loved bluegrass music, and was an avid rabbit hunter throughout his life.


Dill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Cecil, sisters, Fay Wall (Frank) and Texie Cecil, brothers, J.W. Cecil (Peggy), Harold Cecil, and Jesse Cecil and brother-in-law, Roger Morgan.


He is survived by his wife, Beverly Adare Perry Cecil, whom he married on September 3, 1965; sister, Bonnie Morgan; sisters-in-law, Nancy Cecil and Jancy Cecil; and several loving nieces and nephews.


A graveside service will be held at Zion Church Cemetery, 130 Hasty School Rd., Thomasville, NC 27360, on Monday, June 29, 2026 at 10:00 am with Pastor Jeff Burton officiating. Friends and family are invited to attend. No formal visitation will be held.
