James "Jim" Franklin Naylor, Jr.

   James F. Naylor, Jr. (Jim) died on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the age of 73. He was a graduate of Parkland High School, class of 1966. Later on, Jim graduated cum laude from North Carolina State University in 1970 with a BS degree in Forest Management. He served in the US Navy from 1971 to 1975. He began his career with the USDA Forest Service in 1970 with the Southern Forest Experiment Station and later worked on several National Forests, Including the Cherokee NF, Francis Marion NF, Ocala NF, and the Osceola NF. Jim also worked in the Forest Service’s National Office in Washington, DC and completed his career in Forest Management in the Southern Regional Office in Atlanta, GA where he retired in 2003. Jim’s proudest accomplishment was earning the title “Certified Silviculturist” for the Southern Region in Class 1. He joined the Society of American Foresters in 1970.

   James is preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin Naylor, Sr. and Agnes Adams Naylor; and brother-in-law, Robert Livengood, Jr.

   Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Brenda Livengood; niece, Linda Arnder (James); great niece, Krystal Hardy (Justin); great nephew, John Robert Hardy; great-great niece, Raegan Graves; many special friends within the forestry industry; and many other extended family members, friends, and loved ones.

   A funeral service will be held at JC Green & Sons Funeral Home of Wallburg (10301 N NC HWY-109, Winston-Salem, NC 27107) on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 11:00am with Reverend Danny Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00am at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
