James Allen “Paw” Vestal, Sr., 91, a resident of East US Hwy 64, Thomasville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020 at the Hinkle Hospice Home. He was born Jan. 29, 1929 in Randolph County, NC the son of the late Roy Hampton Vestal and Nellie Whitehart Vestal. Mr. Vestal served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a truck driver with Johnson Motor Lines for 28 years and retired from Food Lion with 24 years of service. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and loved traveling to Myrtle Beach and Pigeon Forge. It has been known that there wasn’t anything he could not fix or repair. Mr. Vestal was preceded in death by a daughter at the age of five years, Nikki Vestal; one sister, Dorothy Brooks and one brother, Roy Vestal, Jr. He was married Feb. 28, 1954 to Gloria “Pat” Ann Borland Vestal who survives of the home. Also surviving are, one son, James Allen Vestal, Jr. and wife Tennie of Thomasville; two grandchildren, Justin Vestal and wife Jessie of Taylorsville, NC and Jeremy Vestal and wife Stephanie of Thomasville, NC; four great grandchildren, Jackson Vestal, Raimey Vestal, Jiliyan Vestal and Jacob Vestal.
Private family graveside services will be held at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point, NC. Mr. Vestal will remain at J. C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville, NC for friends to pay their respects at their convenience.
