Jane Carolyn (Hilbert) Sutton

Mrs. Jane Carolyn Hilbert Sutton, 95, a resident of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026.

Jane was born April 15,1930 in Onondaga County Syracuse, New York a daughter of the late Daniel Hilbert and the late Kathleen Montgomery Hilbert. She loved classical music and in her early years was a violinist with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. Jane worked in children services for the city of Syracuse, loved flower gardening, was an avid reader and loved animals including her canine and feline companions. In her retirement years she enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband of 59 years, Robert. Jane graduated Cum Laude from Syracuse University with a Master’s Degree. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Mary Hilbert Hartsch. On August 11,1950, she married Robert Sutton who died in July 2009.

Surviving is her son Daniel Sutton of Bath, PA; her daughter Margaret Sutton of Winston-Salem, NC; her grandchildren, Kate Strouse and her husband John of Landenberg, PA, Isabella Orellana and her husband Herbert of Los Angeles, CA, Holly Sutton and her wife Malory of Florida and Zachary Sutton of Georgia. Jane had two great-granddaughters Jane Strouse and Lilliana Sutton.
