Jane Hayworth Payne Obituary

Mrs. Jane Hayworth Payne, 79, passed away, after a brief illness and surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.  She was born on June 22, 1945 in Guilford County, NC to Belvin Leslie Hayworth and Alice Orlando Raper Hayworth.  She retired from Payne’s Auto Repair, Inc., with her husband Dale, where she worked as the office manager.  She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church, the Christan Seeker’s Sunday School class, the Mt. Pleasant Women, where she was secretary and Woman of the Year in 2013, the FLC Planning Committee, the Youth Breakfast Crew, MTP Connection Group, and she helped tirelessly in the kitchen during all events. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Dale Payne on May 22, 2020, whom she married on February 8, 1964; and her twin sister, Jean Hayworth Logan on February 23, 2009.

Surviving are her two daughters, Julie Motsinger and husband J.W. and Jenny Hagee and husband Chris, both of High Point; her son, Jeff Payne and wife Diana of High Point; grandchildren, T. Gardner, Dalton Gardner, Maddie Hagee, Sallie Hagee, Clyde Motsinger, Glenn Payne, and Sadie Payne; her special cousins, Laura Barrier, Ann Byerly, and Katherine Hoover; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the FLC at Mt. Pleasant Church with Pastor Chris Clontz and Pastor Tim Starbuck officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends for visitation immediately following the burial in the FLC at Mt. Pleasant Church. Mrs. Payne will lie in state at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, 10301 N. NC Highway 109, Winston-Salem on Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 12:00 PM – 5:30 PM for members of the community to pay their respects.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 8th Floor Cancer Center ICU at Atrium Health WFBMC for their outstanding care.  Memorials may be directed to Mt. Pleasant Church, FLC Fund or to Mt. Pleasant Church, Wednesday Morning Youth Breakfast Fund, 6516 Old Greensboro Rd.
