Jay Frank Dunbar, Jr

Mr. Jay Frank Dunbar, Jr, 71, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. He was born on August 29, 1954 in High Point to his parents, the late Frankie Lockhart Dunbar and Jay Frank Dunbar, Sr. Jay was a 1972 graduate of Ragsdale High School in Jamestown. He was a member of Mitchell’s Grove Methodist Church in High Point and retired from the High Point Police Department. Jay was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Dodgers play baseball and the Blue Devils play basketball. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Dunbar.

Surviving is his son, Jarrod Dunbar and wife Holly; three grandchildren, River, Willow, and Jude; three siblings, Randy Dunbar and wife El, Linda Dunbar, and Kay Hankins and husband Phil; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 4:00 PM at the JC Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Dr. Charles Hutchens officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 2:30 to 3:45 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org
