Mr. Jerry Michael Cooper, 77, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, June 20, 2025, at his residence in Thomasville. He was born in Davidson County, on December 29, 1947, to the late Vasen E.V. Cooper and Mary Bray Cooper. Jerry proudly served his country, as a Sargeant in the United States Air Force for four years. He was a former member of Arrington Heights Baptist Church in Lexington, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and was also involved in the bus ministry. Jerry was an avid golfer and made many close friends on the courses over the years. He served as a past President of the Thomasville Golf Association and enjoyed many trips to the beach to play golf with his friends. Jerry also enjoyed fishing and was a skilled carpenter. He owned and operated Cooper Construction for 50 years and proudly provided fine craftmanship to many customers. He loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by everyone.
Surviving are Jerry’s three sons, Mark Cooper and wife Lisa, Stephen Cooper and wife Renee, Michael Cooper; his daughter, Kim Key and husband Nathan; his brother, Bobby Cooper and wife Mildred; eight grandchildren, Kobe Key, Elizabeth Holman and husband Deshawn, Taylor Cooper, Tyler Steed, Trevor Steed and wife Bella, Jadon Straw, Mason Straw and Shannon Straw; one great grandchild, Zahara “Pumpkin” Holman, who he absolutely adored.
A funeral service will be held at Southside Baptist Church 712 Fisher Ferry Street, Thomasville, NC on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Doug McGee officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 9:30 AM, prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville, with full Military Honors.
