Jesse Richard Cecil, age 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 25, 2025 at Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point, NC. He loved his beagle dogs, rabbit hunting, and bluegrass music. The love of family and friends gave him much joy over the years.
Jesse Cecil was born on August 19, 1935 to John W. Cecil and Ethel G. Cecil. He was a graduate of Hasty High School, Class of 1953. He served as a Davidson County Deputy Sheriff for 8 years and also served as the head of Davidson County Maintenance, with roles through which he diligently supported his community.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Cecil, sisters, Fay Wall (Frank) and Texie Cecil, brothers, J.W. Cecil (Peggy), and Harold Cecil, and brother-in-law, Roger Morgan.
He is survived by his wife, Jancy Workman Cecil, whom he married on December 22, 1955; his brother, Dillard (Dill) Cecil (Beverly); sister, Bonnie Morgan; and sister-in-law, Nancy Cecil.
He is also survived by his son, Richard (Rick) Cecil (Wanda), and daughter, Jana Weaver (Doug).
His legacy continues through his two grandsons, Sam Cecil (Janay) and Tom Cecil (Lara), and his three great-grandsons, Luke, Jack, and Glenn.
The family will receive friends at the home of Rick and Wanda Cecil of Thomasville.
A graveside service will be held at Zion Church Cemetery, 130 Hasty School Rd., Thomasville, NC 27360, on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Mitchel Hayworth officiating. Friends and family are invited to attend.
